Farmhouse Pitigliano

Pitigliano is one of the most famous villages in the tuff area, a historic town developed on top of a high cliff overlooking the surrounding countryside. The houses and palaces of the town were built largely with the tuff and so they look like one with the rock underneath them.
Carved in the tuff are also some wineries used for the storage of the famous Bianco di Pitigliano DOC.
For this and other wonders of its territory, Pitigliano is included among the most beautiful villages of Italy.
In the historic center there are many buildings of great artistic value such as the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, a fascinating medieval example of Baroque style, and the Orsini Palace, an ancient convent transformed into a private residence during the Renaissance.
Pitigliano also hosted a large community of Jews who built a beautiful synagogue in the neighborhood dedicated to them, the Jewish ghetto. The building is still present and today it can be visited together with the nearby cemetery.
